Overview

A complete Focal system, from crisp highs to deep bass, with the power to drive it. This package combines Focal's Slatefiber 165SF component speakers up front and C165SF coaxials in the rear with the Focal P30FSE 12" Flax Evo slim subwoofer in a DNA ASC003A ute subwoofer enclosure, all powered by a Pioneer GM-D9705 5-channel amplifier, for a spacious soundstage, strong dynamics and bass you can feel.

The French-made Slatefiber speakers are rigid, responsive and balanced even at high volume, and the P30FSE uses Focal's Flax cone and a slim, lightweight design to deliver precise, deep bass while taking up as little space as possible. The Stinger STK4 wiring kit and an extra Stinger STI1217 RCA lead are included to wire in the amplifier, and two InstalPro seal kits get the most out of all four door speakers.

Focal P30FSE Flax Evo 12" Slim Subwoofer

Deep, precise bass without giving up a big chunk of space. The P30FSE pairs Focal's Flax sandwich cone with a slim, lightweight design and an integrated magnet, so it is shallow enough for tight installs while still handling 300W RMS.

DNA ASC003A Ute Subwoofer Enclosure (Black)

A wedge-shaped in-cabin enclosure designed by DNA to sit directly behind the driver or passenger seat in a ute.

Pioneer GM-D9705 Class D 5-Channel Amplifier

One compact amplifier for the whole system. The GM-D9705 has four main channels for the door speakers plus a dedicated subwoofer channel, so a single chassis powers the front components, the rear coaxials and the subwoofer.

An additional twisted-pair RCA interconnect on top of the two pairs in the STK4 kit, so the front, rear and subwoofer signals each have their own pair of leads to the 5-channel amplifier.

InstalPro SASK Speaker Acoustic Seal Kit (one kit per pair of speakers)

A small part that makes a big difference. The sound from the back of a speaker is the exact opposite of the sound from the front, and when the two meet inside the door they cancel out. The seal kit isolates the back wave so you hear more mid-bass, clarity and imaging.

• Egg-crate acoustic damping pads (200 x 200mm) that sit behind the speaker to absorb the back wave
• Sealing rings to seal the speaker to the metal door skin so air does not leak past
• Front foam rings (200mm, 165mm, 130mm, 100mm and 75mm sizes) that seal between the speaker and the door trim or grille, directing the sound into the cabin

Why They Work Together

One amplifier runs the whole system. The GM-D9705 has four main channels and a dedicated subwoofer channel: two channels drive the 165SF front component set, two drive the C165SF rear coaxials, and the subwoofer channel powers the P30FSE. At 4 ohms it delivers 75W RMS to each 80W RMS Slatefiber speaker and 350W RMS to the 300W RMS, 4 ohm P30FSE, with the gains set correctly for your head unit.

Focal designed the Slatefiber range to be high sensitivity (91dB), so the 165SF and C165SF are efficient speakers that sound tonally matched front and rear, with an adjustable tweeter level on the component set to tune the front stage to your cabin. The amplifier's high-pass filter keeps the deepest bass out of the door speakers so they play louder and cleaner, while its low-pass filter and bass boost remote let you blend and adjust the subwoofer from the driver's seat.

The STK4 kit supplies two pairs of RCA leads and the STI1217 adds a third, so the front, rear and subwoofer signals each have their own pair. The amplifier's speaker-level inputs also work with a factory head unit. The wedge-shaped ASC003A enclosure is designed by DNA to sit behind the seat in a ute, so the subwoofer stays inside the cab and out of the tray.

Important Information

• Fitment and mounting depth vary between vehicles. The 165SF and C165SF need 70mm of mounting depth and a 165mm (6.5") cut-out; some vehicles need speaker adaptors, spacers or harnesses (not included). The ASC003A enclosure (330mm H x 475mm W x 130mm D top / 230mm D bottom) is designed for behind the passenger seat in VY and VZ utes; check that it fits behind the seat in your vehicle. It is supplied with a solid baffle, which must be cut for the subwoofer (the P30FSE needs a 276.34mm cut-out and 108.5mm of mounting depth). Allow a ventilated mounting spot for the amplifier (302 x 60 x 215mm).
