Overview

The HELIX COMPOSE Ci5 M50FM-S3 is a 2" / 50 mm wideband (full-range) speaker pair from the HELIX COMPOSE i5 range by Audiotec Fischer (Germany). Covering 300 Hz to 20,000 Hz from an exceptionally compact driver, it suits midrange, centre, full-range and DSP-based applications where space is tight, and can be used in system layouts without a separate tweeter. It is a universal speaker supplied with a universal FlexMount CFM50 MULTI.1 ring and a mounting ring with grille; optional car-specific FlexMount50 adaptors are available separately.

Audiophile wideband performance for flexible integrations

The Ci5 M50FM-S3 expands the COMPOSE platform with a highly advanced 2" wideband driver with an exceptionally compact design. Thanks to its noticeably reduced outer diameter compared with typical 2" drivers and its FlexMount technology, the Ci5 M50FM-S3 can be installed even in very tight OEM mounting locations. This makes it particularly suitable for positions where space constraints, unfavourable mounting angles or OEM housing limitations make conventional two- or three-way configurations difficult. Its exceptionally broad usable frequency range enables system layouts that operate without a separate tweeter. High power handling and clean, low-distortion high-frequency reproduction also make it an excellent choice for centre applications, full-range systems or DSP-based setups that demand outstanding sound quality in minimal space.

Smart engineering for maximum efficiency, dynamics and detail resolution

The performance of the Ci5 M50FM-S3 is based on a series of precisely coordinated engineering features. The specially shaped surround and innovative magnet assembly enable an unusually large linear excursion for this driver size, resulting in remarkable power handling and extremely low-distortion playback. This combination is also the basis for an exceptionally smooth and wide frequency response for a 2" driver, free from the peaks and dips typical of many compact wideband speakers. At the same time, the unusually large cone area and the significantly reduced outer diameter (compared with conventional 2" speakers) maximise performance and give the driver impressive dynamic capability. Another key factor in its extended high-frequency reproduction is the aluminium dust cap bonded directly to the voice coil. Its light, rigid construction improves transient behaviour well into the upper frequencies, contributing significantly to the Ci5 M50FM-S3's outstanding transparency and detail resolution. The silicone-coated paper cone provides high internal damping and a natural, precise tonal character, and suppresses unwanted resonances. Completing the package is the powerful push-pull neodymium magnet system, whose efficient magnetic guidance increases sensitivity while keeping distortion to a minimum – the foundation for clean, confident sound even at demanding playback levels.

High efficiency

HELIX COMPOSE stands for smart engineering and accordingly uses highly efficient 3 Ohm technology, which harmonises perfectly with all HELIX and MATCH amplifiers while delivering a clearly perceptible gain in efficiency and maximum sound pressure.

High-tech polymer basket

The Ci5 M50FM-S3 basket is made of a high-tech polymer composite that is additionally reinforced with glass spheres. The result: maximum stability with minimal self-resonance, elimination of flux modulation of the magnet system and maximum resistance to thermal influences. Last but not least, this allows much more compact basket dimensions and therefore simpler installation in cramped mounting locations.

FlexMount50 – Universal meets car-specific

FlexMount is a mounting system based on specially developed adaptor rings that allows COMPOSE FlexMount speakers to be installed in an almost unlimited number of vehicles. The universal loudspeaker effortlessly becomes a vehicle-specific loudspeaker that can be installed in the vehicle's original mounting position in an acoustically optimised way using the matching FlexMount adaptor ring (car-specific adaptors sold separately).
